Chant's story...

Chant was brought into the world by Jaunenoir's Highness MacBeth and Am Ch Hyspire Windfall Cookie Cutter on August 18th, 2004. He was a singleton puppy, having no littermates, and therefore had no competition but DID have the whole "table" to himself. We could see this was going to bring trouble for Chant, as he'd have no socialization and would be at risk of becoming obese.

Ironically enough, Chant's Aunt Gemini had a litter of seven babies born on August 19th so we cautiously placed a boy and a girl with Beth and Chant. Beth took to those babies like they were her own... well they kind of were in a sense, she was their Grandmother! :-)

When the babies were about two weeks old, it was a very hot day so we took Gemini's litter outside and put the "fab four" in with her... combining the two litters together. Well that was the beginning to the end of having 2 litters. Both moms raised and cared for all puppies, in the same whelping box, in the same ex-pen, and showing no indifference. It was a "magical" moment to see.

With all this tender care by two moms, and complete love and devotion, we were blessed with 8 beautiful, well socialized little jiggers... 1 of which stayed... Chant.

Chant has an extra special spot in our hearts because due to Beth having difficulties during previous deliveries, we decided to have her spayed and place her in a loving home. This was an extremely difficult thing to do since Beth was born in the same whelping box, raised in the same home, and loved by us for 5.5 years. Although we know it was best for Beth, it was none the easier to let her go. We can only be thankful we were blessed with Chant who is an exceptional, outstanding, fun loving puppy, and who will become a part of our breeding program and continue to give us a piece of Beth everyday.

We have high expectations for Chant as he is demonstrating to be everything we hoped for when we bred Beth and Cutter, and everything a "true Labrador Retriever" should be and then some... and he's all ours! :-)
